Randall Craig Isley. March 5, 1950 - November 22, 2007.

This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for a father-in-law that loved me. I am thankful that I was there to tell him I loved him in his final hours of life. I am thankful that every Thanksgiving from this day forward I will spend part of that day missing him and remembering how hard he fought to live. I love you old man...

Happy Thanksgiving! Won't be around the computer for a few days, but I will post pics as soon as I get a chance!

You're a DOCTOR?

Lacy had a Dr. appointment today. Our appointment was at the pediatric teaching hospital with a resident MD. After interviewing us, the resident is supposed to go and run everything by the attending MD. So after we met with the resident, Lacy and I waited in the room for the attending MD to come into the room and talk to us. The doctor knocked on the door and as I looked up to greet the Attending Doctor (the head person!) I looked right into a very familiar face. Not a face I was expecting. I haven't seen this person in nearly eight years, when she had just failed out of her first year of medical school... evidently she made it through.

I can now say, based upon my personal experience, that it is not easy to take medical advise from a girl I used to party like a rock star with. It was a bit awkward in the room. I didn't think it was the best time to bring up the "old days" since neither of us probably remembered much... just a whole lot of tequila. I am sure that we are both glad to have those reckless days of being 22 and stupid very far behind us now.

Baby pics

One of Lacy's nurses from her old facility (Totally Kids) brought over some baby pictures of Lacy. It's nice to have something more than just pictures of her from the age of 3.

For a while there she had a very unfortunate lack of hair... lots of bald patches...clearly she has moved on from that stage.

Lacy all dressed up for Halloween '05 (I am guessing)

This last picture is of Lacy when she still had a crib. The first time I was ever at TK and I saw these "cribs" I about fell over. I started calling the place "Totally Kids in Cages". After a while I got used to the idea, but this picture took me back to the very first time I was there. It is a very different world.

. I am of the opinion that Lacy has done quite well out of captivity.

I need a little privacy...

Lacy is starting to "need a little privacy" in the bathroom. However, I am not allowed to close the door (per Lacy). So this is the solution that she has managed to come up with.

Mexican Wrestler...

Are we the only ones who see a similarity here?

Sicko.

Spent the entire night in the ER with Lacy. Kiddo has Bronchiolitis. We are a little nervous, but I am sure she will be just fine. More details later!

My Little Meteorologist

It's sunny and beautiful in Yucaipa today. As I hopped onto a crowded 10 fwy this morning to take Lacy to preschool, I noticed some darkness ahead of us. As we crawled into Redlands, I could barely see the few cars ahead of me.

Me: "Oh No! I think there is another fire around here. I better call Daddy and ask if there was anything on the news about it this morning". (I was at work till 6:30 am)

Lacy: "We should call Daddy." (hmmm... glad you suggested that, Lace...)

We called Daddy and he knew nothing... I decided to roll down the window and sniff the air (Cramers can feel free to keep their snide comments to themselves, thank you). It didn't smell like smoke. Maybe it was just really thick fog.

Me: Maybe it's not smoke.

Lacy: It's fog, Mommy.

Me: I don't know, Lacy. It's just so dark.

Lacy: It's fog, Mommy.

Let me digress for a moment to explain that a few weeks ago it was foggy out and I took the opportunity to explain to Lacy everything there was to know about the weather. It was a very big deal, and we discussed the intricacies of fog at great length... so I have no doubt that she holds her knowledge of all things weather-related in high regard.

Me: It's cold outside, and there isn't any ash in the air...

Lacy: Mom, I told you IT'S FOOOOOOOOGGGG!

Turns out it was fog. Her preschool teacher said so.

Lacy: See, I said so.

Cramer Time

Lacy had a doctor's appt this morning. I had no idea how long the whole thing was going to take, but I didn't think I'd be able to do it alone. I worked the last few nights and I work again tonight, so I was afraid I'd fall asleep or something. I decided to enlist the grandparents and have them go with me to make sure we were all safe... the appt went very fast, and we ended up at the park... Lacy was in HEAVEN! When my parent's left, she climbed up in the truck and refused to get out. My dad said, "don't you want to go with them?"
Lacy: "Nope"
Randy and I walked away and she didn't do a single thing... she was waiting for my parents to drive her to their house! She wasn't pleased when we had to take her out of their truck and watch them leave. On the way back into the house she said, "oh well, Grammy is going to call me later when I'm done with my nap!"

Happy Anniversary

Today marks the two year anniversary of my blog. Two freaking years, baby! By now it seems like everyone has a blog... but it is pretty satisfying knowing that I have been going at this bad boy for quite a while. I think this whole tenacity thing is finally starting to kick in!

And yes Becky... I realize that you have been blogging much longer than I have...
