Not Much...

Not much to report these days. Just packing for our move and living life as a preggopotamus. Ten more weeks to go till baby Paisley arrives. I am sure my posts will pick up when that all arrives.

Oh Lacy...

After another strange episode where I found water all over the kitchen floor and Lacy in the middle of it all only wearing soaking wet underwear...

"Let me explain... it was the dog" she informed me.

I decided it wasn't worth the investigative time and said, "well, live and learn, Lacy!" Her response???

"Live and Learn? What the HELL does that mean mom?"

I had to bite my lip. "First of all, we don't use the term "hell", and I am sorry if you heard me use that word before, it was wrong."

"Ooooh, I get it, mom. "Hell" is one of those words we only use in private."

"Ummm.. well, we really shouldn't use it at all, but yeah. Don't say "what the hell" to any teachers, at church, or in front of your grandparents."

"Got it!"

Egg Hatching

This pregnancy has not been one of the easiest. In fact I spent some time up in labor and delivery last night because I was having pretty strong contractions.

In addition to all of the drama, with just under three months left, I am HUGE. Overall I have maintained the 30 lb weight loss from the massive 24hr sickness I dealt with the first half of my pregnancy, but my stomach is HUGE. Strangers have started to comment. I have taken to lying about my due date. "Oh my!" they say, "how many do you have in there! I bet you are going to deliver any minute". I usually agree and waddle along. Jerks.

Of course this did not escape Lacy's observation. Yesterday she walked past me rubbing my tummy with her hands and said, "Wow mom! You're really hatching a BIG EGG in there, aren't you?" um, thanks, Lace. "I bet those doctors are really gonna have to cut in there to get it out!" whaaaa? Let's just pretend I didn't hear her say that!

That's it!

I read a great quote on the CCHS message board (a site for families of kids with CCHS). The mother of a 20 yr old college student was talking about raising her son and said this:

"His life would be difficult, a good character was going to be important to his success."

I want to paint this across the kitchen wall. It is truly our mission statement with Lacy. A good character is essential, but her life isn't going to be easy... for her it is imperative. In everything we do, I hope we help Lacy build strong character.

The Deuce.

"Mom, I dropped a DEUCE on the floor"

"You dropped a what?!?"

"I dropped a deuce and I'm sorry. I really thought there was a toilet behind me"

Yep, Lacy somehow managed to poop on the bathroom floor. Two little rabbit-like poops made it into the toilet and one on the floor.

Some days I have no plausible explanation.

EARTHQUAKE!!!!!

So we just had our first earthquake in quite a while. It wasn't HUGE, but enough to get me nervous.

It has been said that CCHS kids tend to have a decreased sense of anxiety.

Case in point: our house is rockin' and rumblin', the dog and I are freaking out... Lacy is happily sitting on the couch enjoying the moment.

Lacy: "Mom, there is no such thing as earthquakes, they are only on TV."

Fortunately I managed to keep "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU" on the inside.

I want my husband to come home from work and make everything okay. (and make some cookies for his preggopotamus wife!)

Money

Lacy: Um, Mom, can I have some of your money?

Me: Nope.

Lacy: Well, I really thought you were going to give me some. I really like money.

Me: That's too bad. However, if you want to EARN some money we can discuss chores... it will be like a JOB for you and we will pay you MONEY to buy things.

Lacy: Okay. But I'm going to need A LOT of money because I want to buy one of everything.

Only four years old and already attempting contract negotiations!? Sigh. We better start saving up for a good law school.

Lacy Ga Ga

I generally don't play much secular music around Lacy. It's not that I don't like it, but it really bugs me when 4 yr old kids are singing the lyrics heard on today's popular radio. I feel like it's my job to insulate Lacy from whatever is out there for as long as I can... but sometimes there is a crack in my system...I had my ipod on shuffle while doing the dishes and Lady Ga Ga came on. Whoops. Don't tell the ladies at church, right?

Let's hope she's more "Dancing With The Stars" than "Spearmint Rhino", right?

Disneyland

Today we spent the day at Disneyland with my parents for my dad's birthday. Of course Lacy wanted to visit Cinderella's castle for the millionth time. Of course, we obliged.

Along the way an unfortunate cast member was placed in our path with the sole purpose of sprinkling "fairy dust" on the heads of the children as they walked by. Lacy got in line to receive her blessing. After the sacrament of glitter was taken, Lacy assumed she would be able to fly. Quickly she realized that flying was not going to happen and she started to complain that the fairy dust didn't work and she couldn't fly.
On our way out of the castle, Lacy returned to the cast member (walking in front of the other children in line) and announced to the cast member that, "your fairy dust is broken, it doesn't work... I can't fly". As the confused cast member sprinkled Lacy with additional fairy dust, Lacy began to flap her arms up and down. With a dirty look to the lady, Lacy walked away... but not after announcing to the crowd that, "fairy dust doesn't work, it's busted."

Going to Disneyland

We are going to spend the day at Disneyland for Grampy's birthday...

Hopefully I can get a cute family picture!

Everybody is Growing...

I can't seem to make it stop... everybody is growing! Murdock is HUGE... Lacy is blowing through her clothes faster than we can buy her new ones. (You can only imagine my glee when Grams showed up with a bag or twelve full of new summer clothes for Lacy! Thanks a million Grams! We sure needed them!)

Easter

My awesome husband came home from a long night of work and gave Lacy a phenomenal Easter. He quickly ran outside and hid over a dozen eggs for Lacy to find. At the time I wasn't too impressed with the idea, I didn't think Lacy would really get into it. Of course, she did! Lacy was all about hunting those eggs down. Murdock even helped out!

Senor Snake

The tree outside our front door has grown so large that it now rubs against the roof making a terribly annoying screeching noise as it slides along the rain gutter up there. Lacy heard this noise yesterday and promptly ran outside to investigate.

She ran back in frantically telling me there was a snake in the tree and it was trying to speak to her.

This was certainly within the realm of Lacy's pretend world, but I wanted to make sure the snake was definitely imaginary so I followed Lacy out to the front yard.

I silently watched as the following drama unfolded:

L: "Okay snake, I hear you. Speak to me."

SCREEEEECH.

L: "I can't understand what you are saying! Speeeeeak to meeee"

SCREEEEECH.

L: "Ooohhh... I think I understand... you don't speak English, you speak Spanish!"

At that point Lacy proceeded to holler her version of Spanish at the imaginary snake... of course the neighbors were there to witness my personal insanity as well.

Just another time I wished Lacy had her own personal camera crew following her around!

Leetoh the Dog

This morning around 6:20 Lacy was already up and chatting in her room with her imaginary friends. Since I was already up and getting my day started, I decided to let her off the vent. I walked into her room to find this:

L: "oooohhh... this is awkward... um, Mom, this is my friend Leetoh. He's a dog. A superhero dog. And, well, we were just discussing business."

Update

I can't find the camera... it's packed away somewhere. I will look for it.

The camp site was a joke. I burst into tears as we pulled in. Fortunately we still had fun.

Tomorrow our new furniture arrives! Super excited.

Will share it all with you soon...

But for now:

Randy: "Lacy, please use the front door, not the garage door because it's locked."

L: "You want me to use the FRONT door? Go AROUND?"

Randy: "Yes, please."

L: "Ooooohhhh... I see. You are managing me again. I get it!"
